3rdWorld Xplorations

Creating a new world perception

About Us

We have a vision of a world where everyone has equal access to the available opportunities! ...for social-economic development

Our story

Through small rural businesses (stalls/kiosks), we are on a bold mission to change the face of rural community development by offering business services that give both rural masses and development services providers (DSPs) a completely new experience.

...the disadvantaged underserved rural communities easily, like never before, access the most needed solutions to poverty, which donors, development services providers, researchers and entrepreneurs, like never before, easily design and disseminate them.

We're building the Village Internet!

Check out for the Cyber 3rdWorld Expeditions 2023!

The rural communities could leverage on solutions and knowledge floating on internet like dry leaves in a forest, to leapfrog the barriers that prevent access to the existing economic development opportunities.

Whilst internet seems like moon landing missions for the rural masses, it is actually just an inch away, in which 3rdWorld Xplorations can fit in its ideas and efforts to fill the gap.

So, we're impatiently creating the Village Internet... a low-budget rural cyberspace ...by simply reorganizing and interpreting internet content into rural people's usable form, equipping jobless-but-aiming literate local youths with tablet phones or PCs and other tech equipment through which everyone in their villages can use internet and other advanced technologies that simplify and reduce the cost of critical economic activities such as farming, at the local market.

Imagine life without electricity, phones, TVs, cars, computers, vaccines, fertilizer and the likes.

As scientific technology has accelerated our civilization and progress, making this life fulfilling, we are convinced to make it a force for good, to accelerate equality, harmonious coexistence and sustainability.

We are driven to shorten the timeline between advent of technology and its impact on those most in need ...to put science and technology in the best service of humanity.

We're determined to pioneer and lead the penetration and ordinary use of internet and other advanced technologies by rural communities - to extend global village boundaries - to help those aiming to challenge inequalities.

The rural cyberspace is meant to help rural communities to harness advanced technologies and generate data to help donors, NGOs, researchers and entrepreneurs design and build cost-effective interventions that widely, effectively and efficiently impact everyone, even the most disadvantaged.

Who we are

We are an early stage social enterprise research and technology extension supporting agency in tech-oriented rural community development and marketing services registered under the Business Names Registration Act of Malawi, expecting to incorporate in 2024.

The business model is to invest and reinvest in more-profitable creative micro-business services that help the customers (rural communities and DSPs) to solve social-economic challenges.

Our Mission

Design and test the seemingly impossible use of scientific technologies and indigenous knowledge in the underserved and disadvantaged rural communities that can help to improve lives and nature.

Our Motivation

What sparks our genesis, our hope!

Though at embryo stage, we have been there since 2015, and we can trace our conception to 2011. For all this time, we can be regarded as failures... But if you look closely, we are the most determined, perseverant and resilient. We believe that failure is not wrong, but giving up is. We have came across a lot of terminal challenges, disappointments, misconceptions and rejections, but we have never thought of giving up. We have lost money, networks, trust and so on... But we have never lost hope. Like Thomas Edson, our hope remains for the 1,000th time. Though ridiculous, our ideas persist like Albert Einstein's relativity theory. No matter how devastating our failures have been and will be, like Nikola Tesla, we will still try them out even without our chance to benefit from them. Not only from Jobs and Wozniak we draw our inspiration to build the best from, we're also inspired to persevere through hard times by Abraham Lincoln, J. K Rowling, Jack Ma and Elon Musk.

What inspires our hope most

As a young man, Abraham Lincoln went to war a captain and returned a private. Afterwards, he was a failure as a businessman. As a lawyer in Springfield, he was too impractical and temperamental to be a success. He turned to politics and was defeated in his first try for the legislature, again defeated in his first attempt to be nominated for congress, defeated in his application to be commissioner of the General Land Office, defeated in the senatorial election of 1854, defeated in his efforts for the vice-presidency in 1856, and defeated in the senatorial election of 1858. At about that time, he wrote in a letter to a friend, "I am now the most miserable man living. If what I feel were equally distributed to the whole human family, there would not be one cheerful face on the earth."
